Kevin M. McNeill PhD - Acting Director
(CV, Bibliography)
The Computer Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) was established in 1957
by Dr. Granino A. Korn to perform research and development in high speed analog
and hybrid computation and later in multiple digital cmputer systems and
continuous systems simulation languages. The CERL has been active in
producing computer and networking technology and graduating Master's and
Doctoral students since its founding. In 1982
Dr. Ralph Martinez became director
and expanded the research and development focus of the CERL into internet
gateway protocols, distributed computing environments, multimedia distributed
collaborative systems, and high speed networks for medical imaging, PACS, health
and medical informatics systems, distance learning and telemedicine systems. In
2003 Dr. Kevin M. McNeill became Acting Director while Dr. Martinez is on leave
of absence. The CERL continues its tradition of excellence in network research
and is also working in the areas of software defined radio, development of
advanced Hardware-in-the-Loop and Software-in-the-Loop simulation techniques and
mobile ad hoc netowrks
