ECE Research

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has recognized that
engineering research and technology development in the following areas is
critical to meet the challenges of several important large-scale problems.
These include Department of Defense technology development, Homeland
Security, Environmental Safety and Planetary Exploration.

* Communications, Information Theory, and Networking
* Photonic and Electromagnetic Devices and Systems
*        Circuits
* Systems Modeling, Simulation, and Design
*        Computer Architecture

These problems offer a very large scope and multiple levels of abstraction
as well a range of engineering disciplines. Furthermore, the Department
recognizes the faculty of ECE has expertise and high quality researchers in
the required disciplines and has identified a number of faculty interested
in conducting collaborative research across the requisite levels of
abstraction and addressing large-scale problems.

ECE has established a strong educational relationship between this research
and development program and our students, directly providing our students
with skills that will enable them to successfully compete in the market
place upon graduation.
