Current Faculty Positions
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Arizona invites applications for the Edward Keonjian Chair, preferably at the Associate Professor rank. Exceptional candidates with a vibrant research program and outstanding credentials will be considered for appointment as Full Professor. The Department seeks candidates in the area of "biotronics" who can contribute to major growth and investment in bio-micro/nano-electronic and nano- biological applications in medicine, diagnostics/detection, imaging, and therapeutics. The ideal candidate will participate in the merger of life-sciences and engineering, bringing forth exciting and practical possibilities for revolutionary hybrid systems. Fields of expertise include design of circuits or devices imitating biological functions for robots, for example, or for interfacing electronics with biological activity with a view toward sensing or control. Strong interdisciplinary interaction with researchers from the fields of medicine, biology, and bio-engineering is anticipated.
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline. Commitment to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels is expected. The candidates will be expected to establish a strong, externally sponsored research program and be willing to engage in existing and future large collaborative research endeavors.

Student IT/Computer Assistant: University of Arizona (Vice President Enrollment Mgmt)
This is an opportunity to work inside the exciting atmosphere of college athletics. Arizona Athletics is looking for a motivated student to help with day to day computer operations and other technologies such as web development.
The student computer assistant will:
- Be responsible for Arizona Athletics IT support, primarily within C.A.T.S. Academics.
- Set up, maintain and troubleshoot computer systems, printers and other equipment.
- Configure and install new software and updates
- Maintain inventory of computing equipment software licenses
- Assist with Athletic Events and other IT-related duties as assigned

Research Assistantship: High Performance Computing Architectures and Technologies Lab
Research positions available leading to ECE M.S. and/or Ph.D. degrees. Research Topics: (1) Design of Parallel Computing Architectures, including Embedded Systems, and System-on-Chip (Chip Multiprocessors); (2) Modeling and Simulation of Interconnection Networks for Parallel Computers using various technologies (optical, electrical); and (3) Modeling, simulation and design of VLSI systems using various simulation & CAD tools such as Spice, Pspice, Cadence, Verilog.

Hourly Position: Reconfigurable Computing Lab
The Reconfigurable Computing Lab is seeking research assistants for implementing an image reconstructing technique on FPGA. Responsibilities include: (1) Implement a given algorithm and technique specifically designed to deal with the image reconstruction methods for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in VHDL/Verilog; (2) Analyze computation characteristics of the algorithm, mold it for FPGA-based implementation; and (3) Build a CPU-FPGA integrated image reconstruction engine that will speed up the reconstruction process significantly.
Project Duration: Started May 2008
Project Status: Ongoing, some preliminary implementation has already been completed.
Required Background: Excellent in VHDL for RTL synthesis.
Required Programming Skills: C, Matlab
