EXPERIENCE

• May 1997 to Present.  Research Assistant: Principal Investigator:  Dr. John Reagan.  University of Arizona, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.Retrieval of optical and radiative properties of atmospheric aerosol using Micro-Pulse Lidar. Development and application of retrieval algorithm code, lidar calibration, and lidar instrumentation.

• September 1996 to May 1997.  Research Assistant: Principal Investigator:  Dr. Joseph Zehnder.   University of Arizona, Institute of Atmospheric Physics.  Investigation of hurricane cyclogenesis in the Eastern Pacific.  Analysis of satellite imagery and upper-air soundings and use of a three layer numerical models to examine the modification of synoptic flows incident on idealized orographic features and assess their role in the genesis of tropical cyclones.

• April 1993 to September 1996.  Research Assistant:  Tissue Culture Lab.   University of Arizona Health Sciences, Cancer Center.  Establish and maintain active cell lines from tumor samples.  Develop photographic records characterizing cell morphology and growth factor response and provide mycoplasma screening of samples using PCR and immunology assays.

• May 1990 to March 1993.   Research Assistant:  University of Michigan Medical School.    Vector Core, Principal Investigator:  Drs. Francis Collins and James Wilson.  Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Molecular Medicine and Genetics.  Development of cell lines for the production of adenovirus strains containing DNA vectors specified for the Human Genome Project.  Applied techniques include virus purification, titering, DNA isolation, restriction digestions, column separation, and protein gels.

• Cell Biology Lab, Principal Investigator:  Dr. Joseph Holoshitz.  Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Rheumatology.  Invitro tissue culture research comprising sterile technique, fluorescent activated cytometry, high pressure liquid chromatography, and proliferation assays.

• Cell Biology Microscopy Lab.  Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology.  Biological sample chemical fixation, microscopy, microtomy, and photographic darkroom techniques.
