- The MODIS MTF validation process is in the midst of completion.
We are validating the cross-track MTF on-orbit measurements using a
two image MTF approach. The in-track on-orbit measurements may be lower than
the pre-launch laboratory measurements.
This is still a open research issue. The on-orbit stability is being measured using the SRCA spatial mode calibration measurements. Even though the SRCA is not capable of providing complete MTF profiles, it is adequate for monitoring the cross-track components. For a more detailed summary please refer to the 2001 annual report.

Reviewing the MTF, NFR, and PSR measurements taken by SBRC to study
if any of the cross-talk problems may be visible in the measurements and
determine the quality of the measurements. For more information, see progress report V1.0 (34 Mbytes).

Samples taken at Yuma to study the All-American
canal reflectance versus the sand reflectance. We expect to see a
large contrast in reflectance between the Dunes, and the Canal as
indicated by the reflectance levels.
We have found two
main types of sand bright and dark sand.
Measurements of some of the plant life were,

We have modified our Multi-spectral Imaging Simulator (MIS) software,
stable beta version, to accommidate a component level Modis end to end
simulation if nessessary. This software has been used for Landsat, HYDICE,
and the JPL HIRIS project.
