There are a total of 1000 points available distributed as follows:

Two mid-term exams: 2 @ 200pts = 400 pts

Mid-term exams will cover material presented in class lectures and assigned reading.  The topics and scope will be provided in detail well before the exam.

Semester Design Project = 600 pts

The semester design project will be a complete logical design for a sensing system, with particular emphasis on the communications aspects of the system, and the definition of standardized interfaces to external processing systems.  The project will require research into various application domains, derivation of applications requirements, investigations of existing or new technology required to meet the requirements of a specific application domain problem and a logical design based on UML for the system.

 

A specification for the format and contents of the design document will be provided early in the semester.
