Communications with GPS radio assets and/or antenna control hardware will be via existing interfaces unless standard (e.g., RS-442/RS-449, ethernet) interfaces exist for these devices. If such standard interfaces exist, they will be used to replace any currently-used propiretary interfaces.
Intra-site encryption is not recommended at these locations. A controlled-access site, with protected and shielded cable distribution systems, is assumed to exist at all NAVSTAR Monitor/Control Stations. The risk of clandestine interception of signals under these assumptions is low enough to obviate the need for intra-site encryption.
