Communications Architecture
The NAVSTAR Master Control Station is the element which will benefit the most from a
redesign using DCE methodology and new technology. This component currently is
based on a dual shared-memory mainframe architecture and nonstandard intra-site
communications. Its requirements are as follows:
1. Extreme reliability is required.
2. Moderate to large intra-site data transfer requirements.
3. Multiple near-simultaneous data transfers must be supported.
4. Open system technology should be used where possible for long-term reliability,
maintainability.
