Monitor Station Internal Communications Architecture

Internal communications is used within the NAVSTAR Monitor Station to communicate between monitor radios and processing elements. The internal communications architecture of NAVSTAR Monitor Stations can also be improved by a redesign using DCE design methodologies. The following principles and requirements apply:

1. Use of proprietary communications hardware/software is discouraged due to potential for obsolescence, single-source support. Such proprietary hardware/software should be used only where there is no COTS alternative.

2. Use of COTs hardware, standard APIs, RPCs is recommended for longevity and long-term maintainability.

3. Bandwidth requirements for data transfer within the site are fairly low to moderate.

4. Highly reliable intrasite communications is required.

5. Security imperative, but protected distribution in secure facility can be assumed.
